2001 Lightning Safety Awards
The National Lightning Safety Institute (NLSI), Louisville Colorado
announces winners of the Annual Lightning Safety Recognition Awards.
Recipients are those individuals who provide leadership for lightning
safety issues and who serve as role models for others. This year’s awards
are given in several categories:

Recreation
William P. Roeder, 45 WS/SYR, Patrick Air Force Base, Florida.
For providing objective information about personal safety to
the recreation industry.

Paul Grace, Lawrence Livermore National Labs.,US Department
of Energy, Livermore CA.
For leadership in editing and directing the revision of DOE lightning
safety document 440.1 chapter 6.

US Academia (Individuals)
Charles Moore and William Rison, PhD, New Mexico
Tech., Socorro New Mexico.
For their defense of the scientific approach that supposed improvements
in lightning protection must be verifiable through the independent
third party peer-reviewed process with supportable technical evidence.

The Awards are accompanied by a full scholarship to attend NLSI’s intensive
two day Lightning Safety Workshop. The standard tuition of $895 is waived.
